About

Hello! I'm Claire.

I'm mum to our children Emilie and Henry and with the support of my wonderful husband David, I am so grateful to have this little fabric and quilt shop and to create lovely things for you. We live in Adelaide, Australia.

I learnt to sew and quilt from my mother Carolyn in my late 'teens and I have so many happy memories from the last decade or so visiting fabric shops with her, poring over all of the beautiful fabrics, and late night sewing sessions where we would chat and enjoy each other's company while we worked on our projects.

I hope that this space of pretty fabrics and quilts inspires you and makes you as happy as it all makes me! Thank you for being here.

Our story so far...

2017/2018: I started making more quilts for friends and family as our friendships evolved from celebrating a 21st birthday party every other weekend to weddings and baby showers. I left my high pressure corporate job in early 2018 and suddenly had more time in the evenings and weekends to enjoy my hobbies which included lots of wholecloth baby quilts to sell on Etsy, with the goal of establishing a steady income and focus for me when I would eventually go on maternity leave in the next few years.

2020: I continued to make and sell baby quilts on Etsy, and started following more accounts on Instagram that specialised in "curated" fabric bundles. I applied for several wholesale accounts but it wasn't until I was almost due to go on maternity leave that I ordered my first bolts of fabric from Art Gallery Fabrics! Our daughter Emilie was born in August 2020. I still planned on making baby quilts but the idea of cutting fabric orders seemed more appealing to me when thinking about having a newborn, and who wouldn't want to play with fabric for work?! This was of course when I thought that babies went to sleep by themselves and I would have endless hours in the day and evening to work on this business, so it was a bit of a slower start than what I had envisioned, but we found our groove and kept going!

2021: The size of our fabric bolt stash grew from a couple of floating shelves in my sewing space to our first IVAR shelf unit when I needed more room for my 20-ish bolts of fabric. We moved to a bigger house (not just for the fabric!) late in the year and I continued to buy more shelves and more fabric that fit perfectly into my little 2.5x3m sewing room.

2022: We welcomed our son Henry in August 2022 and shortly after he was born we decided to reshuffle our house around to make space for a bigger sewing and fabric room. The idea of a shop space was too much to think about with two little ones just over two years apart, but we wanted the capacity to have in-person shopping too. We set up the new room and had our first "open house" in December 2022 which was so well received.

2023: We continued monthly/bi-monthly open houses out of our home until the perfect commercial space became available out of the blue in late 2023 and we moved everything again to 567 Magill Road, Magill. We have had the most fun setting up the new shop and are truly so excited to experience the joy that this space will bring everyone in 2024 and beyond!
